Privacy Policy
Last updated 29 September 2026
Volée is an app for organising padel: open games, tournaments, levels and the people you play with. It runs on Android and iPhone. This policy explains what personal data the Volée app and this website collect, why, who else handles it, and how to delete it. Where the two phones differ, it says so.
Volée is operated by Sound Enterprises Private Limited ("Volée", "we", "us"), which is responsible for your personal data. You can reach us at scubehq@gmail.com.
1. What we collect
Your account
- Phone number and password. Together they are how you sign in. The password is stored only as a salted hash by our sign-in provider, so nobody at Volée can read it.
- Password resets. We do not send codes to your number. If you forget your password, you write to us and we reset it by hand, and we keep that email.
Your profile
- First and last name, handle, and a photo you upload or a built-in avatar you pick.
- Gender, only if you choose to give it (the default is "Rather not say"). It is used to decide entry to men's and women's games.
- Your padel details: playing hand, side, style, level and the answers to the level quiz, and your home club.
- Bio and Instagram handle, if you add them.
- Country, worked out from your phone number's dialling code.
- Home city with approximate coordinates, if you let the app use your location.
- Whether other members can find you by your phone number.
Your play
- Games and tournaments you create, join or ask to join, including any short notes you write.
- Results and scores, and the ratings and rating history calculated from them.
- No-show reports about you or made by you, and any appeal you send.
- For guests you add to a tournament who have no account: the name and phone number you enter.
- Season progress, invitations and achievements.
Your activity with other people
- Who you follow and who follows you, and people you block (with a reason, if you give one).
- Feed posts, comments, likes and reactions.
- Chat messages in game and tournament threads, and which messages you have read.
- Reports you make, and reports other players make about you. Section 5 says exactly what a report keeps.
Notifications and technical data
- Notifications we send you and your notification settings.
- If you allow notifications, the push token your phone issues and whether it is an Android phone or an iPhone.
- Our hosting providers keep standard server logs, including IP addresses, to deliver requests and prevent abuse.
2. Phone permissions
Each permission is optional. The app keeps working without it and you can change it in your phone's settings at any time.
- Approximate location. Used to sort open games by distance, to find venues near you and to work out which city your board shows. Only a coarse position is used, never a precise one. Your city and its rough coordinates are saved on your profile.
- Contacts. Used on the People screen to find friends who already play. The app reads phone numbers only (no names), sends them to be matched against members, and gets profiles back. Your contacts are not stored on our servers.
- Camera. Used only to scan another player's QR code, on Android and on iPhone. The image is read on your phone and is not uploaded or recorded.
- Photos. When you choose a profile photo through your phone's own photo picker, only that image is uploaded. On iPhone, saving a card to your photo library asks for add-only access: Volée can add the card you chose to save, and cannot see anything already in your library. On Android, saving a card to your gallery needs no permission.
- Notifications. Used to tell you a game filled, a draw changed or a score needs confirming. Turning them off stops the push; the notice still appears inside the app.
- Health Connect on Android, Apple Health on iPhone. Off unless you switch it on. When on, each finished match is written to your phone's health store (an exercise session in Health Connect, a workout in Apple Health) with its duration, venue, score and estimated calories. Other apps you have allowed to read your health data can see it there. The app only writes; it never reads anything from Health Connect or Apple Health, and nothing from either reaches our servers.
3. How we use it
- To create and secure your account and sign you in.
- To run the service: show open games near you and at your level, manage tournaments, record results, calculate ratings and seasons, deliver chat and notifications.
- To keep the club fair and safe: reviewing reports, blocking, no-show reports, preventing duplicate accounts and abuse, and enforcing our community rules, which includes removing content and suspending or removing accounts.
- To answer you when you contact us.
We process this data to provide the service you asked for, to meet legal obligations, and with your consent where the permissions above apply.
4. What other players see
- Signed-in members can see your player card: name, handle, photo, level, hand, side, style, home club, number of rated matches, join date, bio, Instagram handle and country. They can also see your summary stats, your place on season leaderboards, and your name on games and results you played.
- Profile photos are stored in a public location, so anyone who has a photo's web address can open it.
- Your phone number is never shown to other members. You can switch off being found by it in Settings.
- Game and tournament chat is visible only to the players in that game or tournament. There are no private direct messages.
- Feed posts are shown to people who follow you. Blocking someone hides each of you from the other. They are not told. The people at Volée who review reports are, so a block is looked at the way a report is.
5. Reports
When you report a player, or something a player wrote, we keep:
- who made the report;
- what it is about: a player, a message, a post, a comment, a game, a tournament, a club or an event;
- the reason you picked, and anything you added;
- a copy of what was reported as it stood at that moment, with the name and handle of whoever wrote it. The copy is what lets a report still be judged after the original is edited or deleted.
Reports are read only by the people at Volée who review them. We review every report within 24 hours. Content that breaks the community rules is removed, and the account behind it is suspended or removed.
A report outlives both accounts. If the player reported deletes theirs, the report stays, copy and all. If you delete yours, the report stays without your account attached to it. We keep reports for as long as they are needed to keep people safe.
6. Service providers
We share personal data only with providers that run parts of the service for us, and only for that purpose:
- Supabase: database, sign-in, file storage, realtime chat and server functions. Our project is hosted in Singapore (AWS ap-southeast-1).
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging: sends push notifications. On Android it delivers them itself; on iPhone it hands each one to Apple's Push Notification service. Firebase also sends Google its own diagnostic data, such as your phone's model, OS version, language and time zone and an identifier for this installation, which is not linked to your Volée account.
- Apple Push Notification service: on iPhone only, delivers the push notifications Firebase hands it, using the push token your iPhone issues.
- Google Maps Platform (Places and Geocoding): receives venue search text and your approximate location to find courts and name your city. Venue results are cached for up to 25 days.
- Vercel: hosts this website.
QR scanning and your phone's health store run on your phone and do not send your data to us. On Android, QR codes are read by Google ML Kit, and matches are written to Health Connect. ML Kit reads the camera image on your phone and never uploads the image or the code in it. It does send Google its own diagnostic data, such as your phone's model and OS version, the app's version, an identifier for this installation and how long a scan took. On iPhone, QR codes are read by the camera framework built into iOS, and matches are written to Apple Health. Our providers may process data in countries other than your own; they do so under their own security and data protection commitments.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our members.
7. How long we keep it
- Account, profile and play data are kept while your account exists.
- Reports are kept for as long as they are needed to keep people safe, including after either account is deleted (see section 5).
- Notifications you have read are deleted after 90 days.
- Server logs and backups are kept by our providers for their standard, limited periods.
- When you delete your account, the data described in the next section is removed straight away.
8. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time:
- In the app: Settings, then Delete account.
- On the web: volee.in/legal/delete-account, using your phone number and password.
- By email: write to scubehq@gmail.com from a message that includes your phone number. We will confirm the number belongs to you before deleting anything.
What is deleted
Your sign-in and profile, any record of texts sent to your number, your profile photos, your push tokens, follows and blocks, the chat messages you sent, notifications and settings, feed posts with the comments, likes and reactions on them, your comments, likes and reactions on other posts, requests to join games and draws, rating and level history, season progress and achievements, and no-shows recorded against you.
Games you organised that have not started are called off, and everyone on them is told. Your seat on other people's upcoming games is given back, and so is your place in a draw that has not been dealt yet. Draws you host are deleted, finished ones included, together with their games, results and chat. Anyone entered in one that is not over yet is told.
What remains
- Games you played stay on the other players' records, because their results cannot be rewritten when one player leaves. The link to your account is removed, but the name shown on those match sheets and the internal identifier in the recorded result can remain.
- So does your place in a draw somebody else hosts that has already been dealt. It stays on the sheet as a guest's, under the name it showed, so the standings still add up.
- What other people wrote stays theirs, including their messages in a game's chat and notifications that mention you. No-shows you reported stay too, without a link to your account.
- Reports stay. One you made stays without your account attached to it; one made about you stays, with its copy of what was reported, your name and handle included.
- Emails you sent us, and records of administrative changes kept for security, can still contain your phone number or earlier details.
- Copies in backups, until those backups expire.
9. Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile, notification settings and whether you can be found by phone number in the app at any time.
- Turn permissions, and Health Connect or Apple Health, on or off in your phone's settings.
- Ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, by writing to scubehq@gmail.com. We reply within 30 days.
Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 or the GDPR, including the right to withdraw consent and to complain to a data protection authority.
10. Security
Data travels over encrypted connections. Passwords are stored only as hashes. Database access is restricted by per-row security rules, so each member can reach only what the app is meant to show them. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a password you do not use anywhere else.
11. Age
Volée is for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone younger. If you believe a child under 16 has an account, contact us and we will delete it.
12. This website
This website does not use cookies, analytics or advertising. Its host keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses. If you use the account deletion page, your phone number and password are sent directly to our sign-in provider over an encrypted connection and are not stored by the website.
If you request an invitation to the Volée Members Club, the name, email address and phone number you enter are stored in our database (Supabase, above) and used only to contact you about membership. Write to us and we will delete them.
13. Changes and contact
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and tell you in the app when a change is significant.
